MAIN DUTIES: 

1.  To provide leadership, direction and support to managers including admin manager to ensure all designated settings within area of remit are financially sustainable, are operating in line with legal requirements and meeting the Ofsted and the company standards.

 

2.  To provide regular human resources, finance and quality improvement updates/feedback on childcare setting performance to the Director

 

3.  To maintain budget for the company and ensure managers spend within or under budget.

 

4.  To create handbooks to create uniformity of practice across settings via information management system

 

5.  To proactively manage all Setting Managers performance, carrying out induction, regular accountability meetings, supervisions, probation reviews and annual performance reviews, and setting clear work and development objectives.

 

6.  To inspire all childcare setting managers/teams to establish and maintain effective learning through a culture of creativity and innovation within each setting. 

 

7.  To ensure all complaints and safeguarding issues are dealt with in accordance with Kids In Charge, policies and procedures, to carry out investigations and be involved in  disciplinary and grievance issues and or safeguarding investigations as necessary. 

 

8.  Act as company Designated Lead Safeguarding officer

 

9.  To ensure HR and people management activities (e.g. recruitment, contracts, payroll reporting, annual leave, sickness absence, grievances, disciplinary and leavers) are carried out in accordance with Kids In Charge policy and practice within designated settings.

11. To  ensure proper delivery and management of payroll

 

12. To chair the interview panel for all senior staff within designated childcare settings and deliver a comprehensive six month induction and probation program for new setting managers.

 

13. To address performance management issues promptly and effectively, and to support managers in promptly addressing performance issues within their staff teams.

 

14. To identify potential leaders within the teams and ensure they have relevant training and responsibility to ensure progression in the company.

 

15. To ensure that Setting Managers and their staff are fully aware of health & safety procedures and infection control and; carry out regular risk assessments, equipment checks and fire drills.

 

16. To support managers in negotiations with Ofsted, Local Authority/Safeguarding Boards on safeguarding issues within area of responsibility. 

 

17. To carry out regular premises checks to ensure the physical environment of the settings are maintained to a high standard and comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, and adhere to EHO, food safety and COSHH regulations

 

18. To set annual budgets and to monitor the performance of each setting against budget, ensuring prompt action is taken where performance is below target. To achieve set occupancy targets of 80%.

 

19. To ensure managers utilize childcare places to their maximum potential.

 

20. To work with managers to identify marketing and promotional activities to help promote the business and drive up occupancy levels. To ensure website is up to date with a high ROI.

21. To identify, plan, deliver and review quality improvement activities in all childcare provision within the remit of responsibility ensuring action plans are in place and steps are being taken to improve practice.

22. To take the lead when more direct intervention and a rapid response is required to improve quality.

23. To ensure development plans and self evaluation renews are used effectively to plan, manage and improve performance and enhance learning and development.

24. To ensure all settings reflect on quality of their practice and -drive the improvement of their services.

25. To ensure that managers and their staff are fully aware of health & safety procedures and infection control and carry out regular risk assessments, equipment checks and fire drills.

26. To support the director in the start -up and development of further settings and for running the current business

31. To be on call from 6am to 11pm. Lead team director and regulatory teams.

32. Reduce waste across the company

35. Participation in coaching and training programs

Essential Criteria:

1.       EYP, Early Years Degree , Level 3 CCLD or equivalent early years and childcare qualifications. A management and or leadership qualification.

2.       Proven, current experience of empowering and supporting quality improvement in settings to secure and maintain at least a good or outstanding Ofsted inspection outcome.

3.       Recent experience of effective management in an early years nursery provisions and Out of school breakfast , after school and holiday club setting.

4.       MUST DRIVE AND HAVE A CAR

5.       Proven ability to work with key stakeholders including local authorities and schools to coordinate and drive quality improvement. 

6.       Experience of effective budget setting, monitoring and action planning.

7.       Ability to lead and motivate a successful team.

8.       Working understanding of business accounts.

9.       Proven, current experience of effective management of staff, setting targets, performance management including conduct and capability issues and dealing with complex issues.

10.     Ability to plan and organise own work/workload.

11.     Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Ofsted registration requirements, the Early Years Foundation Stage and relevant quality assurance and improvement models and statutory requirements including health and safety and safeguarding children.

12.     Able to demonstrate an understanding of the application of the Kids In Charge Management Competencies.

13.     Ability to influence and communicate to a high standard in person and in writing, with volunteers, staff, schools and external bodies and organisations.

14.     Understanding of and commitment to, inclusion, diversity and equality.

15.     Able to travel to childcare settings within the defined geographical area promptly at short notice and to attend occasional evening and weekend meetings. Occasionally to travel to another area to support in setting up new provision.

16.     Needs to be contactable all year around
